Towns, Crowns, and Widgets

We have some quick hits for you in this FIREPROOF Blog post:
  • Provident Films is currently working with Sony and Samuel Goldwyn to determine the cities where FIREPROOF will open on September 26. (We hope to have a list to you shortly!) While many of the markets across the nation have already been selected, we’d love to know this: If you could pick one town to have FIREPROOF open in, what would that be?
  • Last week, we told you that the video for “Slow Fade,” the new single from Casting Crowns, debuted on Yahoo Music. The video for the song, which is featured in FIREPROOF, can now be seen at FireprooftheMovie.com.
  • If you were an early adapter and went to Take Action to downloaded FIREPROOF widgets or banners that said “In Theaters This Fall,” we’d like to ask a favor of you: please download the brand new widgets and banners that say In Theaters 9.26.08. Thanks!

I want it in Birmingham Alabama. I don't know how they knew but this movie seems to be written for my son. He is a fire department explorer and it has such a great marriage message that he needs to hear. He will identify with every aspect of this movie and he needs to see it several times in the opening weekend! Please bring it to Birmingham Alabama - we will make it a hit.

Well now that's kinda weird.

"momtokyle", I have a Kyle, too (15.5 yrs. old), who was recently encouraged to join the local volunteer fire department's "junior firefighter" training course. And we live in the Birmingham "area", too!

(As a side note, our Kyle's 16th birthday is September 27th, the day after FIREPROOF opens. *Lord willing*, we hope to organize a whole bunch of friends to attend opening night of the movie at "AmStar Stadium 14" in ALABASTER, ALABAMA. This group would also include any local firefighters and their wives/girlfriends who would want to join us -- their tickets paid for by us and our friends -- like an "Adopt-a-Firefighter" kind of thing. After the show we'd then stop by the local fire stations and drop off goodies, notes of thanks and encouragement for more firefighters and their wives to go see FIREPROOF!)

Please consider this a second request to open in Birmingham, Alabama!

The only reason I might want FIREPROOF to open somewhere else first would be if you had a greater chance of reaching more people for the Lord. What town has the most fires or stressed-out fire departments? What town has the highest divorce rate in general? What town has the highest chance of unbelievers showing up for the movie? (I'm not a demographics expert, so I have no idea if I'm even asking the right questions!)

We love you all and are continuing to pray, pray, pray!

Keep extinguishing those fiery darts of the Enemy!

: )

*Lord God, I ask that you would speak to momtokyle's son's heart, this very moment. If he does not know You, I ask that You would draw him to You more each day. May You strengthen his marriage and bring it healing if it is in trouble. Please help him to see that he just can't do it without YOU. I humbly ask that You would not only allow his marriage to survive, but that You would cause it to flourish and triumph (and that he would be blessed with many godly children!). Please work in his wife's heart. Please bring comfort and encouragement to momtokyle, this dear lady. In Jesus' name I ask these things, Amen.*

My husband and I are Christian counselors/therapists doing a lot of marriage counseling in Charlotte, NC. We want to help get the word out. What can we do?

It would be great if the movie could open in Portage or Kalamazoo Michigan (Yes, there is a Kalamazoo!) :) I know SEVERAL families that would greatly benefit from watching Fireproof in theaters, not to mention me!! I really don't know if I could wait until it came out in DVD, I can barely wait until September! May the Lord bless you for making these wonderful movies that glorify HIM and not yourselves. Thanks!!!

My husband is a Gwinnett County fireman so we will see you on July 24th! I would also love to see it available in Lexington, KY where my family lives.

I am so thankful for our 17 year marriage. I know we have beat the odds but only with the Lord's help. I am the Preschool Director at my church and will be doing everything I can to get the word out.

Our church in Denton, TX is hoping it comes here so that we can rent out a theater opening weekend. :)

Our closest movie theater is in Vernon, TX. It is a locally owned, family theater, and I think it would be a wonderful town to open Fireproof in. The next closest theater is 1 hour away. Vernon and Chillicothe have a good church crowd that would serve as a built in audience, but also the movie would reach another audience who simply goes to the movie for its affordability and location. Especially when gas is $4 a gallon. It's a small town theater with a big heart.
