DVD a Hit in Blogosphere!

Now that FIREPROOF is out on DVD, it’s exciting to see a new round of positive reviews by real people on different blogs. The Rev. Ed Hird, Rector at St. Simon’s in North Vancouver, writes:

“If you are looking for a good Valentine’s Day flick, I recommend that you pop over to your DVD stores to pick up the FIREPROOF DVD. So often we act as if our marriages never need tune-ups ... that somehow they can look after themselves. Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to put our other distractions aside and treat our spouses as the most important persons on earth.”

Faith, a fan since the film opened, shared how she and friends enjoyed the DVD:

We also watched the special features. It was very cool to see the cast members behind the scenes. I love that they worked together and prayed together. We laughed so hard at a few of the special features. I can't even tell you how funny it was.

Let us know if you have recently posted about FIREPROOF on your blog. And thanks for helping spread the word!

I thought this was a wonderful movie. I had a done a sermon series about the movie online through a church in Florida. When the series was over the movie was out of theaters so when we could preorder it we did. We are so thankful we bought it and now we are sharing it with everyone. I even had to blog about it the night after we watched. I guess you could say I was on a Fireproof high.

My wife and I just watched FireProof and loved it. We also watched Facing the Giants when it came out and love that one also. I just wanted to take the time to tell you how much we appreciate your taking the time to make such high quality movies that exemplify such high ideals and standards. I applaud you for so boldly sharing the word and the love of our Saviour Jesus Christ with the world like this. You are doing a great work. I am telling all my friends and family about these movies.

I also wanted to tell you that I am not of your faith. I am actually a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I want you to know, that even though we are of different faiths, I have learned a great deal from these movies as well as members of your faith that I have come in contact with. I may not agree on some things, but on these movies and the messages contained in them, I agree with 100%.

Thank you again for doing this great work. I look forward to many more wonderful movies from you.

Most Sincerely

My wife and I decided to pick it up last night at Blockbuster - it was quite honestly one heck of a film. The acting was so good by both Kirk Cameron and Erin Bethea (along with the entire cast) - I found my self wondering - "gee, are they going to make it?"..Suffice it to say, I was telling everyone at Church this morning how good this movie is! I would reccomend it to anyone!

I really enjoyed the movie and have it on DVD. One thing that I wish that I could understand is there is a part in the movie where Caleb's father tells him "You can't give her what you don't have". I'm sure that at some point Caleb was in love with his wife, but he was not a man of faith. Was his father trying to tell him that because God was not in his life that he could not possibly love his wife??? Anyone with any thoughts on this please reply.

To Toneknee1982:

That's a really great question, and the answer is found in the Sermon on the Mount:

"For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans so?" (Matt. 5:46)

There's a difference between infatuation and love. Many times the "love" folks feel at the altar is nothing more than infatuation. There is nothing in the heart of unredeemed man that can love in the truest sense someone who behaves like an enemy.

Yet it's not hard to have a certain level of affection for someone who will return it - which is just selfishness, as we tend only to invest in people that we can get a return out of, so to speak. Anyone - and everyone - is capable of that.

True love is measured by your willingness to sacrifice with no selfish ends in view. Most couples feel an attraction and affection for each other when they get married, but sacrifice is nowhere in the picture. When both parties want to be center stage and neither wants to sacrifice, the warm fuzzies dissipate into thin air and the couple is left groping, without a foundation for their relationship.

Caleb undoubtedly felt the usual shallow affection for Catherine when they were married, but there was no true love present or their marriage would never have reached such a hopeless point with both ready to get out. When he was shown what true love is, he had the opportunity to deepen the initial attraction into something substantial that would stand the storms of life. Yet, he found that it was beyond him to give it without Christ.

This is what it means in I John 4 when it says "Love is of God, and everyone that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God." True, sacrificial love comes from only one Source, and it's not within us to give that love without the indwelling presence of God.

Hope that helps! God bless.

I got the Fireproof button and put it on my blog. I was wondering if you could make some for the other movies; Facing the Giants and Flywheel. Our whole family loves these movies. We would watch Fireproof for Valentine's Day, but we loaned our copy to some friends! I haven't posted about it, but I have the button.
