Hello to Hollywood

Last night, FIREPROOF was highlighted on the ABC evening news. We are still looking to get a copy of that report to include on the blog. For now, you can read this story on the ABC News website.

While FIREPROOF has garnered a lot of attention, many in the movie industry think it was a one-weekend wonder. With an anti-Christian (in fact anti-any-faith) movie opening this weekend, many are thinking the audience for that type of film is as big (if not bigger) than the audience for FIREPROOF.

We hope you will strongly encourage anyone you know that would enjoy this movie or benefit from its message to see FIREPROOF this weekend ... and you could join them! Perhaps then, Hollywood will hear you a little bit more clearly!

See you at the movies!

My husband and I went to see "Fireproof" last night. It was INCREDIBLE! My husband actually helped me put away the dishes today! My parents also went to see it and my mom told me that my dad cried and cried during the movie. He told my mom on their way home that he saw himself in the movie. Thank you so much for making an amazing movie that has such a wonderful message! God bless everyone involved with bringing us "Fireproof."

Saw Fireproof last night...it was like having 2 hours of quality marriage counseling for the affordable price of $18!!

I knew that "Fireproof" was a Christian movie about marriage and, since I'm not married, I thought that I would support it because its a Christian movie, but frankly, I thought I would be somewhat bored. I was dead wrong. I saw "Fireproof" last weekend, and it was fantastic! It was far, far better than Carman's movie "The Champion." My sister and brother-in-law saw it, and my sister said that both of them were crying the whole time...and my brother-in-law is a skeptic who never cries! My mom brought Kleenex with her to see it, and she absolutely loved it. I highly, highly, highly recommend this movie!

I'm having a sitter come by so that my husband and I can view Fireproof. When I heard it was made by the same group that made Facing the Giant, a wonderful movie. I was, however, very upset that it wasn't showing in my local theater. I had to look a theater up and luckily found one not far away. Why is this? What can I do?

I am going to the movie tonight. It looks wonderful. when I tried to get the times for my local movie, it wasn't playing there! I could not believe it, what a show to help couples but no one will know. Most people I told about it, hadn't heard of it. I found out it is playing in a near by movie theater, thank goodness. How can I get my local theaters movies like this. Facing the Giants was one of the best movies ever, I have given that one as gifts to many in need of encouragement. Each person I gave it to thanked me so much for it. I would like to know how I can get my local theaters to show these movies.

Loved the movie! My husband & I went to see it last weekend, but a group had bought out the entire showing. Since we live an hour away we decided to see a different movie while we were there and chose "Nights in Rodanthe". Of course, it was Hollywood's usual glamorizing of things God's word warns against and the only reference to Jesus was when His name was used in vain. I can't even remember how the movie ended! Today we drove back to the same theater to see "Fireproof" and absolutely loved it. I had sent an e-mail to 60+ about 3 weeks ago to let people know this movie was coming and today I sent them another e-mail to strongly encourage them to go see it and spread the word. LOVED the music (long-time fan of Third Day & Casting Crowns) and how fitting was the awesome John Waller song and the beautiful song at the end!! I echo the post I read earlier suggesting a follow-up movie in a few years showing how this couple deal with tough issues that we face as parents or maybe a different family with teenagers and the consequences of bad choices and how to deal from a Christian perspective.

I sent an email out to everyone in my address book...about 100 people telling them to watch the movie. I also linked your site to my website....it was truly one of the best movies I have seen! My husband is a firefighter/Paramedic so I could really relate to several of the issues in the movie. Thank you Thank you Thank you for making this wonderful film. PLEASE continue to put out more Christian films. How refreshing to be able to go to the "big screen" and hear the name of Jesus proclaimed unashamed!!

Fireproof ROCKS!!

I JUST came from seeing this movie and I must say, I am all cried out! In fact, there were numerous people sniffling in the audience, not a dry eye in the house!
Hollywood needs more movies of this caliber made than the average garbage that daily pollutes our minds and our souls.
Praise God that movies like this are finally filtering into mainstream Hollywood. For all those that truly follow Christ, I encourage you to bring your married friends, saved and unsaved to this film!

Absolutely loved this movie! I came home and emailed multiple family and friends to tell them it was a MUST see. The writers, actors, producers and all involved did a dynamic job of weaving together humor and spirtual truth with gutwrenching emotional scenes. WELL DONE!!! I can hardly wait to purchase this movie on DVD. Thank you for taking the time to make and produce this kind of movie!

I have seen this film twice and all I can say is AWESOME!! THANK YOU Sherwood Church for bringing a movie to mainstream America that shows what a Jesus centered marriage can look like. Keep up the good work, I am recommending it to everyone. My husband right now is where Caleb was at the beginning of the movie but I know God has big plans in his life.

This movie will change lives.

I took my 16 yr old and 9 yr old sons to see Fireproof today. What a gift this movie was! My sons were touched and inspired by the male role models portrayed in this film. Thank you for making a movie where men are not ashamed to show their love for the Lord. What a blessing. I pray for its continued success and hope everyone gets a chance to see it!

I am amazed at the work that God is doing through this movie. My husband and I went to see the movie last weekend, and I don't think that there was a man or woman who left without tears in their eyes.

I am encouraging friends and co-workers to go see this movie. It's the real deal and has a message that America needs to hear.

What an amazing movie! My husband and I saw it a week ago and we can't stop thinking and talking about it. All week we've been so considerate and loving towards each other, this movie was so powerful, so amazing, so Godly. Thank you, thank you for making a movie like this, where you speak about God and His love. I've told everyone I know about it!
Thank you!

I have seen the movie twice and loved it more the second time! The first time I saw it with co-workers so we could respond "intelligently" to our listeners when they write in (we work for a Christian radio network). The second time was with my husband a week later. The theatre was packed out last night and it was incredible! Thank you for this movie. My best friend and I have decided to do The Love Dare on our husbands - we began on Friday - and we will encourage each other and pray for each other as we follow this path God has put us both on even before the movie came out. Thank you so much!!

Fireproof is most assuredly NOT a one-weekend wonder! According to Box Office Mojo, it has broken the $10 million mark (surpassing Facing the Giants' lifetime earnings!) and currently is STILL IN THE TOP 10!!!

I just got back from seeing "Fireproof" for the second time. The first time I went with my hubby, and today I took my mother in law to see it.

I can't believe it, but I think I like "Fireproof" even more than "Facing the Giants"... How is that possible?

Kirk Cameron gave the performance of his career. This movie had everything in it... The most awesome part is that the Gospel message was presented so clearly...

May God receive all the Glory from the movies that come from Sherwood pictures!!!

Can't wait to buy the DVD :)

How did we ever think we could ever truly love without LOVE, Himself, who is God? You have created an entirely new genre in film making - The Whole Truth with Integrity! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I have seen all three of your movies, and they just get better! "Fireproof" will affect EVERYONE who sees it, positively, for Christ's sake. Truly, we are created for His pleasure. I honestly believe He will increasingly get the pleasure HE is due from Christian marriages as a result of this wonderfully anointed and prayer bathed presentation. It is far more than a movie...it is an intervention of God for this hour. God has used you mightily, Sherwood Baptist Church, to challenge all of us; married or single, saved or unsaved, but especially the Hollywood community. Your films are proof that there is a hunger for TRUTH in this country, still. There are no words which would be adequate to say how much I appreciate your total submission to God in this venture. It is evident in every aspect of the movie, as you left NO stone unturned...just as Christ does when we truly welcome Him into our lives and give Him the preeminence. May God richly bless everyone who had even the tiniest role in bringing this movie to the screen. And may the fullness of God's purposes through it be fully wrought out!

My wife and I saw Fireproof last night and we were touched deeply, and changed. Parts of the film were painful to watch as they hit eerily close to home. (No horror or suspense film can top the harsh reality in this story.) But the redemption factor was like a dynamite blast of God's love. I have never - honestly - NEVER cried in a movie until Fireproof. This film is a gift to all married people. It has the potential to change lives. Period. I will be telling everyone I know about it. Let's get the DVD out ASAP!! Once again, THANK YOU!

One caution I'd like to share is that no matter what you feel about film critics who may give Fireproof a negative review, don't try to "put them in their place". I've seen many people trying to tell national reviewers off in their responses to reviews. These are people who are Christians who've enjoyed the movie and its message, but are angry about someone else not agreeing with their perspective.

To respond mean-spirited does absolutely nothing for the Kingdom of God and might even hurt its reputation.

Just be careful what you say and how you respond. Some people will give this film negative reviews...that's just the way it goes.

Thank you. What a bold movie, with an incredible storyline. We went to see this movie, because a couple of our dear friends recommended it. We were surprisingly thrilled over it. Tears streamed down my face throughout the whole movie. The entire cast did great, and truly Kirk's still got it as an actor. I've posted this trailer on my blog, thanks for making easy to pass on a good movie, with a great storyline, worth paying for and a message worth fighting for. God bless!

My wife and I met another couple for dinner and then went to see Fireproof. We all loved it! This is a wonderful movie that is so needed in this day and age. I'm definitely recommending it to all that I come in contact with - personally and thru email! Thank you so much, Kendricks and Sherwood BC, for making this movie - and for Facing the Giants, as well. We loved that movie too. With God's help, my wife has stuck with me thru some times almost as bad as Caleb's. Seeing this movie makes me want to do even more for my wife and show her that I love her more than I do now. I'm planning on getting the Love Dare book too. Thank you so much and keep up the good work! (After a well-deserved rest, of course!)

Since coming to theaters on the sixth of this month I have had the privilege of going to seeing Fireproof twice. It it so encouraging to see a movie that totally and completely lifts up the name of Jesus. When the opportunity presents itself, I hope to go out and support this wonderful film again.

Having seen "Facing the Giants", I eagerly awaited the movie, "Fireproof". It took some doing to get our 23 yr old son and my husband into a theater at 4:30 pm on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in a city an hour away. It was worth it!!!! Our 21 year old daughter was unable to go with us but I gave her money for her and her boyfriend to go see it. I am recommending it to all married couples, anyone dating and kids 7th grade and up. Parents will need to determine if younger children will be able to handle the fire and rescue scenes.
I'm looking forward to seeing the movie again and to seeing our marriage being renewed. THANK YOU FOR SUCH AN EXCITING, CHRISTIAN MOVIE!! It is possible to have decent entertainment that is clean, wholesome and shares the Gospel message. Please keep these movies coming!!!!!!!! HOLLYWOOD TAKE NOTICE OF WHERE CHRISTIANS ARE SPENDING THEIR ENTERTAINMENT DOLLARS.
