Movies ... and TV

We know it would be impossible for you to go to every showing of FIREPROOF this weekend. So we have one other entertainment option for you: Huckabee. Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas, now has a weekend talk show on the Fox News Channel, airing at 8 p.m. Eastern and Pacific both on Saturday and Sunday.

Why do we share this with you? Well, in addition to Mr. Huckabee endorsing the movie (“FIREPROOF is a gripping and powerful story. … I loved it and you will too!”), he has a couple of guests on his show this weekend you might enjoy seeing.

On the show this weekend are Alex Kendrick, the director and co-writer of FIREPROOF (and co-author of The Lovc Dare), and Jim McBride, one of the executive producers of the film. Jim and Alex (also known as coaches Bobby Lee Duke and Grant Taylor) will be discussing the movie that has become a movement!

Tune in and let us know what you think of the show! Now, who is ready to go see a movie this weekend?!?

I went to see Fireproof this week in OKC! I LOVED THIS FILM! I'm blogging about it this week on my daily blessings blog at: http://blessed1.wordpress.com. I hope you continue to share God's love with movies like this. Kirk Cameron did an awesome job!

WHAT AN INCREDIBLE MOVIE!!! My wife and I saw it last night, and we were so blessed and moved.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Sherwood Pictures for making this awesome, Christ-centered, God-honoring movie. This is EXACTLY what our movie theaters need these days. What an incredible message of how God changes hearts and lives through the Lord Jesus Christ.

The way Caleb (or Kirk :) came to the Lord was so realistic and well done.

Way to go, guys -- I can't wait to see your next movie!!!

Ok- my husband and I went to see the movie last name to celebrate my 32nd birthday AND our 9 year anniversary (yes I got married on my birthday- best birthday present ever!) Can I just say there were a lot of elbows flying in both directions and we could totally relate. The picture truly moved us. I think what got me the most was the scripture at the very end of the movie. What an awesome testimony this movie is to the sanctity of marriage. I can't thank you enough for making this movie. (My husband even did the dishes when we came home last night!!) Thank you!

I really enjoyed the movie too. I put up a review over at my blog. A great tidbit...though a business in town bought 1,000 tickets (Garden of Readin') the theater held the movie over another week because the sales were sky high!

Thank you so much!

I have seen Fireproof 4 times now... I am on day 7 of the love dare. It is hard. My spouse is ready to let go, he has no interest in saving our marriage, or so it seems. I have set up a blog to hopefully inspire others to fight for their marriage and also to encourage prayers for my husband and I.

I haven't seen the movie yet. But I watched the segment on Huckabee... They did great. I'm glad to see a great Christian movie getting major news network attention and the endorsement of Gov. Huckabee. He is a wonderful Christian.

My wife and I saw it last weekend. We encouraged our 17 year old and his friends to go see it...to give them a basis for how they need to think when they do get married.

great movie...would like to be able to see it again!

Two points about Huckabee and one point about the movie:

Regarding Huckabee --
1) His low-key approach to culture and politics is a welcome alternative to shouting matches that sometimes occur elsewhere.

2) Saturday evening's show featuring Fireproof's Alex Kendrick and Jim McBride included many strong elements, including the need to engage the culture.

Regarding "Fireproof" --
I've seen the film and conlude it is a significant step forward in humane movie-making, both for Hollywood and the Christian community. There's much more to this film than meets the eye.

My review at The Pearcey Report may be of interest.

Title: Fireproof -- Reel Rebel Upsets Tinseltown Stereotypes.

First line: "Speaking of change, how about the Fireproof?"

Went to see the movie this weekend. What an awesome movie. The best part is that it really moved my 16 year old son, who is really struggling with some issues. He loved Facing the Giants and loved this movie. It was awesome to look over and see him crying. Please pray for this boy. This movie is for families. Thanks for making it and thanks for the impact it is making.

I haven't seen it yet, but I REALLY want to. The trailer itself makes me bawl every time I watch it. My parents just recently got a divorce, and so it really hits home for me. I really want them to see this movie...

We went last night, drove 55 miles to see it and I was happily surprised by how good this movie was. The writing, the acting, its message and music all came together beautifully and believably. Thank you. We will recommend it to everyone.

A side note if your counting tickets is that we were given tickets to a different movie. I noticed that this AM when I was cleaning out my purse...

I Love this film. It is an anointed film. My husband and I cried and I felt the presence of the Holy Spirit. I highly recommend this film and I will be buying it on DVD to use it as a witnessing tool. I told several friends to go and see it, and now they have started the love dare themselves. It's about time marriage is portrayed God's way.
