Singles Loving FIREPROOF

Take one look at the Stories section at FireprooftheMovie.com and you will find all kinds of examples about how FIREPROOF is impacting married couples. But what about singles? Well, thanks to the blogosphere, we have an answer:

“You need to go see FIREPROOF. Really, you do. I went tonight and was so glad I did.”

That’s what Pastor Nate Peregoy says on his blog. That, and well this:

“Most of all, it’s for everybody. Kids, parents, older couples, singles. Everybody. Each viewer learns about forgiveness. The movie speaks to all relationships and has application for us all as we accept and serve each other unconditionally. I’m usually not very good at this. But the movie helped put human skin on grace and helped us enter into the opportunities we have to bring love and peace to the lives of the people around us.”

Then there’s Nicky Story. Someone asked her to see FIREPROOF so that should could blog about it from a single’s perspective. Here are some of her thoughts:

FIREPROOF, a story about love. I was truly moved by the movie, it is yet another example of love being a choice—not a feeling. Of course the film is about a married couple, but it is even more about the relationship we have with the Lord. Are we choosing to love Him, even when we don’t feel like it?”

Finally, we aren’t joshing about singles liking it. Take a look at what Josh said over at Just Joshing:

“It is an AWESOME Christian based film. I recommend it to everyone! While the storyline focuses primarily on marriage, there are also a lot of good lessons for single Christians to learn as well.”

Thanks for the great posts! And if you’re single and have seen the movie, we’d love to hear your thoughts in our comments area!

As a single person the part of Fireproof that really struck me to the heart was the picture of God's unconditional love toward us... while we were still sinners He died for us... I had tears in my eyes thinking about that truth, and it was one of the things that has stuck in my head from the film! :)

I have written about "Fireproof" from a single's perspective on my blog. I also included some of my favorite scenes from the movie. You can check it out here: setapart4jesus.blogspot.com/2008/10/thoughts-about-fireproof.html

Marriage is a sacred covenant and not a contract, as the makers of this film like to say. It's also a lot of work, which is one reason why I enjoy my single blessedness. Having said that, I have to say that this amazing movie can be just as beneficial for single men trying to live a Christian life amidst the temptations of a wired and morally haywired society as it is for married men trying to live the same way. The storytelling is fantastic, the comic and dramatic timing are topnotch, and the underlying message of love and forgiveness strike at the heart of what it means to be a Christian -- single or otherwise. The film also addresses the question regarding what gods we worship, and the answer to this question applies to everyone.

This film instantly became one of my top five favorite movies, another one being "Facing the Giants". They both deserve yearly viewings.

I'm a divorced 30ish woman with two kids. While I'm not in any relationship, this movie had an amazing impact on me. It is a reminder of how much God loves me. It's also a reminder of what type of relationship to let into my life. Not just a "good man" but a "godly man" is what I'm praying for!
And one more thing, thank you for showing Hollywood that a Christian movie can be a smashing success!!!

I am recently divored, mother of 2 children. This movie came to me at a time when I thought I needed to do the Love Dare on my ex to get him back. It turns out that I really need to do it on myself. I need to live through Christ and let him shine through me before ever learning how to love again. This time around the love I will have for God will help find someone for me. That is the power of this movie and God - finding love in Christ for yourself!!

Hey, I was checking my stats today and saw some referrals from your blog. I didn't know it existed, much less that I had been quoted! Thanks!

Loved the movie - especially as a single person who pastors young adults. If I can be of any help to you drop me a comment.
